Upon reflection of this project, I feel I chose suitable routes to market this project in terms of my demographics and psychographics. However, it didn’t have the desired results I had hoped for, particularly in terms of the charities. I should’ve reached out to more charities and followed more individuals that posted similar content and build a rapport with them. Another situation that I should’ve tried to make work better was I had put faith in friends and family to listen to it and also promote through word of mouth but this didn’t happen either.
For myself, I should’ve started the promotion earlier regardless of if I had anything recorded or not as it could’ve garnered interest for the podcast before it was posted. I also should’ve looked at other social medias to promote on.
Recommendations I have for myself for future projects are below:
- I would’ve scheduled my recording sessions sooner and had some more people as back up for when unfortunate circumstances, such as a participant becoming ill, happens.
- I also would’ve had the sessions closer together so they were all recorded and I could edit short clips/snippets to post on social media as teasers and gain interest.
- I would’ve created more social media accounts (i.e. TikTok, Facebook etc.) to create reach to a wider audience.
- I would’ve also looked into the possibility of paid advertising as I know this can push your content too.
- I would’ve drafted up written agreements with the charities about promotion and support so that I had everything in place in case something like this happens again as at least I’d have a written contract.
I also feel I put too much trust in other people to do the promotion for me whereas I should’ve been doing more myself.
