EVALUATION CRITERIA

Artefact 1 – ADR & Foley

• Evaluate the timing and sync relative to all elements of foley, ADR and SFX sourced from sound libraries.
• Assess all sounds used as to whether they are realistic to the visuals shown and their effectiveness in conveying the storyline portrayed.
• Evaluate creativity and initiative when it comes to sourcing objects used for foley, SFX and plugins used.
• Assess the use of automation and whether or not it creates depth and perspective to enhance the visuals shown on screen
• Assess the use of markers, routing folders and file organisation in aiding clear and efficient workflow.
• Analyse compositional skills in Ableton when it comes to creating atmospheric sound.
• Evaluate the moving of files from one DAW to another.
• Assess use of skills in ProTools and Ableton and knowledge and understanding of their respective plugins.

Artefact 2 – ISP

• Assess knowledge and understanding of how to operate a studio and the equipment within it.
• Analyse knowledge and understanding of microphone choice, placement and techniques and when to appropriately apply them.
• Analyse knowledge of the signal flow and levels that are relevant and acceptable to accurately capture a good recording.
• Evaluate use of skills in ProTools and Ableton and knowledge and understanding of their respective plugins.
• Evaluate use of skills in various plugins such as EQ, compression, reverb etc. and how to use them to create a high quality as well as using them creatively.
• Assess knowledge and understanding of how to produce a high-quality balanced mix.
• Analyse ability to manage a studio project by demonstrating how to book studio time, liaise with session performers and clients as well as applying any feedback given.

Artefact 3 – Spatial Recording & Reproduction

• Evaluate knowledge and understanding of learning different microphone techniques relevant to spatial recording.
• Evaluate the ability to create immersive mixes such as binaural and ambisonics.
• Assess the ability to use recording equipment out with the studio.
• Assess communication skills when it comes to communicating in a professional manner
• Analyse ability to manage a studio project by demonstrating how to liaise with venues and performers.
• Analyse the knowledge and understanding of how to record audio that is playable over a 5.1 system.

Artefact 4 – PDP

• Evaluate ability to network and liaise with various parties from charities, external parties and participants.
• Assess communication skills when it comes to communicating in a professional manner
• Evaluate various skills such as time management, good workflow, good communication skills etc.
• Assess skills in using social media as a tool for self-promotion and marketing and how to expand on this.
• Analyse skills in using social media as a means to reach target audience.
• Reflect on all of the above and how to improve on this for future projects.
