I had 3 individuals scheduled for this, someone from the charity, my cousin’s fiancée and a friend.
I messaged my cousin’s fiancée but like the other charity I felt it best to discuss the project in person as it’s easier than through text. We agreed for a meeting and she came to my house one weekend where I presented the idea to her and she was more than happy to agree to record an episode. I booked the studio on the 29/10/24 as this was the first day she had free to record her episode so I got to work on that. I set up 2 mic stands, one with an SM7B and Lewitt LCT 441. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the microphones to work in the vocal booth in the control room as I was unaware that a patch cable had to be set up. Due to time constraints and wanting to get the episode recorded, I set up the LCT 441 in the live room, as I’m most familiar with this mic, and then went into the control room to record. This worked really well, with the signal being very good and her voice coming through loud and clear.
I then had the recording session with the person from the charity and it went well. I was able to use the vocal booth now that I knew about the patch cable. I used the SM7B mic however the signal wasn’t as great even through I had the gain turned to a suitable point on the interface. I suspect this was due to her being quite soft spoken and a little nervous but I knew that it was good enough to work with in the editing process.
I asked a friend if she would be interested in recording an episode. She agreed but unfortunately, on the weekend before we were due to record, she was taken into hospital. Due to time constraints and her health we were unable to record the episode.
